DUG Goes Green

DUG 2012 Green Initiatives

You continue to share your ideas, and we continue to make improvements. Here are several ways DUG has committed to "go green" for this year's conference:

· Recycle containers outside session rooms
. Collect unwanted tote materials for reuse at other events
· Use recycled, reusable tote bags
· Print fewer items for totes, booth materials, and other uses, and use recycled paper
· Market electronically rather than through print, when possible
· Post speaker materials online rather than using paper handouts
· Distribute the daily conference change notices and announcements online only
· Buy U.S.-made materials when possible to save on shipping fuel costs
· Use recycled/recyclable material for DUG notepads and pens
· For the conference program book printer, use an FSC certified manufacturer using FSC paper.
· Use FSC certified paper which assures the fiber used to make the paper comes from well-managed forests
· Use Vegetable-based inks will be used in printing the Program Book
· Donate leftover notepads and gift items, or reuse at regional conferences
· Post registration lists online only
· Ask hotels to participate in linen reuse programs and to provide in-room recycling
. Replace bottled water with water pitchers or coolers
. Post exhibitor kit online rather than providing a paper version

Think Green LogoGaylord National Resort & Convention Center is "Eco-Logical™"
The Gaylord National Resort is equally committed to preserving the environment. By partnering with the Gaylord for our annual DUG Conferences we can further our efforts to "go green." With no definitive national environmental standard currently in place for the lodging industry, Gaylord Hotels has developed brand standards using the guidelines set forth as a baseline by the Florida and the California Green Lodging Requirements.

We're Eco-Logical™, the trademarked name Gaylord Hotels has chosen to brand this program, provides an easily identifiable symbol to highlight practices and programs offered at all properties that demonstrate a commitment to the environment while encouraging the involvement of guests, meeting clients and STARS (Gaylord Hotels employees).

Every Gaylord Hotel focuses efforts in the following areas:
Water conservation
Waste reduction and recycling
Energy efficiency
Food-related initiatives
Clean air
Chemical reduction / use of environmentally friendly products
Green purchasing and use of partner / vendor relationships
Landscaping
Communication and training
